Amusement Park Holds Auction 7/24/03

Dutch Wonderland will hold a very unusual auction. It will be selling 'memories' next week. "They are great pieces and you know for people that have grown up in Lancaster County and have been around the park their whole live, these are wonderful. It's a piece of their history, a piece of their childhood they can visit again."

This auction won't have the usual knick knacks that you'll normally see. Here the knick knacks are games, signs, even rides from the older years of Dutch Wonderland. As the park updates it's look, some older and unique items are up for sale, like statues. B.J. Jennings/auctioneer, "They're just characters that came from the Indian Village, so we have the horse, one of the horses from the Indian Village. We have a brave and we have an Indian chief."

Even the old spring kiddie rides are up for sale. They appeal not just to collectors, but to the kids who grew up. B.J. Jennings, "People like to buy things at every auction that they remember. It's something they grew up with and you're going to have people that show up at this auction that actually rode on that rocket."
